Shonrock also launched a biweekly radio segment, ESU Buzz, with President Michael Shonrock. This segment featured special guests and covered current events at Emporia State University. Shonrock left Emporia State on May 28 to become President of Lindenwood University.
He was a leader in the National Association of State Universities and Land- Grant Colleges. In 2000, he received Texas Tech University’s President’s Quality Service Award.

Shonrock was involved with the leadership of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce and the Lubbock Area Unified Way. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.
