Fry, after a decade-long hiatus, returned to driving dragsters at Bakersfield’s 42nd Goodguys March Meet. Fry made it to the semi-finals of Junior Fuel after her return at the wheel Ron Johnson’s dragster.

She became the fastest Top Alcohol driver in the world at 18 years old, driving at 220 mph (350 km/h) from Fremont, California.

Fry raced a Super Street 1927 Ford roadster that was supercharged and fuel injected, which she and her father had built. This car was part of the NDRA/STREET RODER MAGAZINE SERIES. Steve Castelli (1941 Willys), Cole Cutler (34 Ford Coupe), Fat Jack Robinson (46 Ford sedan delivery), and Ray Castor were her most formidable competitors. As a teenager, Fry faced and beat them all. Fry switched between Super Street and NHRA Top Alcohol during this period. She and her father returned to Indianapolis in August 1990 to compete against the ’27 Ford. They eventually won that event.

She is an American dragster and comedian who competes in the NHRA. She began driving quarter-midget sprint car at age 4 under the guidance of Ron. She was a teenager and competed in the NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster Class. She is the only female drag racing driver to set a time of 5 seconds 1/4 miles in a Top Fuel dragster. She was the first to record a quarter-mile time of 5.4 seconds in an AA/Fuel dragster in 2019.

Fry, after a one year hiatus, returned to competition in NHRA’s Heritage Series. He drove Smokey’s Darkside, a 1978 Dodge Challenger fuel Funny Car. The supercharged Arias engine powers Smokey’s Darkside. This combination is unique in the class.
