He ran for Hamilton mayor that year. McCa pledged to rename Hamilton the “home of Canadian rock and rolling”, Donut Rock City. This is a reference to Hamilton being the original Tim Hortons store. McCa was eighth out of twelve candidates and lost the election.
McCa released the animated video he had created for his song “Drinkalottawater” on February 15, 2010. Directed by Dean Chalkley, the video was also directed by Yemisi.
He has toured with Finger Eleven and the Noisettes, Feists, Slow Club, Nick Oliveri, Blag Dahlia and appeared at Secret Garden Party. In early 2009, he toured with Bob Log III & The Magic Numbers. He has also been a frequent performer in Canada.

In early 2012 the Mayor retired his one-man band but carried on writing songs under C.A. Smith. He released his first single, “Time” and “Judge Judy” on Records Records Records. His debut album, “Someone You Love” was released on We Are Busy Bodies in North America. It was released worldwide in November 2012.
