Mattt Konture is one of the most popular and richest Comics Artist who was born on September 27, 1965 in Viry-Châtillon, Île-de-France, France. Konture’s drawings at this time were dark and filled with strokes. They resembled the American underground style. Konture was inspired to create psychedelic, autobiographical comics after he discovered the 1960s American underground cartoonists Gilbert Shelton and R. Crumb. Konture began autobiographical comics in 1988 such as Krokrodile Comix 1 or Galopu. This was the precursor to the French underground movement.

Konture also started “Jambon blinde” a improvised comic commissioned by Stephane Blanquet. Konture was inspired by this new way to tell stories by drawing a series “comix” that L’Association edited for the collection Mimolette. “Autopsie D’un Mort Vivant” (“Autopsy Of A Living Dead”) is a darkly retold of Konture’s childhood. All his characters are reintroduced in these books: Galopu and Mister VrO as well as Ivan Morve, each representing the author’s mood.

1989 saw Konture return to Lozere. He continued Ivan Morve and drew some comics. Ivan Morve is a series of half-autobiographical stories published in the pages of Psykopat.

In 1982, Konture published his first comics at the age of 17, in magazines like Viper (“L’ajeun”) or Le Lynx (“Les Exploits de Ted”) with Jean-Christophe Men. Konture published Nerf on an old Xerox machine when he went to Paris. This first book was reprinted by L’Association. Ruga Zebo Violent was his first comic book. It was the first volume in the “Pattes de Mouche” collection, which L’ANAAL published before becoming L’Association.
