An unsigned free agent prior the season of 2009-10, Dandenault was invited to the San Jose Sharks training camp. The Sharks, however, Dandenault was among the final cut-offs when the Sharks were forced to let him go on the 27th of September, 2009. On the 21st of October 2009 The Hartford Wolf Pack, American Hockey League affiliate of the New York Rangers, signed Dandeneault to the Professional Tryout Agreement. On March 4, 2010, it was announced that the Hartford Wolfpack released Dandenault from his Professional Tryout Agreement.
Dandenault was a representative of Canada in the 2003 Men’s World Ice Hockey Championships in which he took home an Olympic gold medal. Dandenault had three assists and two goals in the nine games.

In the following nine years, he was playing for the Red Wings, who drafted him during the 2nd round of the amateur draft in 1994, Dandenault played with HC Asiago in Italy in 2004-05 (due to the lockout) and, upon the return of North America, he signed an agreement for four years with the Canadiens which is his home team.
