In July 21st, 2015 the President Obama announced the nomination of Dominguez to serve as one of members on the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in the vacant seat left in the resignation of Jeremy C. Stein who was forced to resign on May 28th in 2014. Her nomination was then returned to the President in accordance with the rules in Senate Rule XXXI, paragraph 6 , of the Senate Standing Rules of the Senate.
Dominguez was an Olin Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research in Cambridge, Massachusetts, from 1991 until 1992. She was Research Associate since. She has also served as an expert consultant in research to the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the Bank for International Settlements. She was a Visiting Scholar for the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in December 2002. She was a member of panels of Academic Advisors of both the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland in 2007 as well as that of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago in 2013.

Kathryn Mary Elizabeth Dominguez (born on November 26th in 1960) is a professor in the Department of Public Policy and Economics at the University of Michigan and is nominated to be the governor in the U.S. Federal Reserve System.
On July 27, 1987 Dominguez became an assistant professor of public policy at John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. In July of 1991 she received academic tenure by being appointed an Assistant Professor in Public Policy within the same school. From 1990 until 1991, she was also employed as an assistant professor of Princeton University, in their Department of Economics. She worked with members of the Harvard Faculty until the year 1997 at which point she became a faculty member of the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy at the University of Michigan as an Associate Professor of Public Policy. The year 2004, she received the named as Professor of Public Policy and in 2006 she was promoted to as Professor of Public Policy and Economics, in which position she remains. From 2003 until 2004, she was academic visitor at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Between 2008 and 2009, she was a Lecturer in Public Policy within the Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California, Berkeley.
