Martin Rowlands is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on February 8, 1979 in Hammersmith, Ireland. Martin Charles Rowlands (born 8 February 1979) is an English-born Irish former professional footballer who was a player for Aldershot Town.
Following a successful season during his time at QPR, Rowlands was called to join the Republic of Ireland squad in the summer of 2004 playing two matches. His excellent club form during the 2007/2008 season and subsequent player of the year award from QPR brought about Rowlands being selected in Giovanni Trappatoni’s inaugural Republic of Ireland squad.
On 14 October 2009, he injured his anterior cruciate ligament while playing for the Republic of Ireland v Montenegro, resulting in him being ruled out of the rest of the 2009–10 season for QPR.
After a substitute appearance against Italy in Ireland’s penultimate qualifying game for the 2010 World Cup, Rowlands was chosen to start for Ireland against Montenegro in their final group game.
After breaking his leg, QPR manager Ian Holloway made a bet with Rowlands to sign him up on the free transfer from his local opposition Brentford at the end of the 2003 summer. This gamble was rewarded, because Rowlands had scored 12 goals in midfield, assisting QPR to rise to in the Second Division. The season that he played in, Rowlands also showed versatility in his playing style, including right back left midfield, right-midfield and central midfield, excelling at every position. He was awarded both the supporters and the players player of the year competitions.

After playing for Heston Gaels GAA club at young age, Rowlands started his football career with Wycombe Wanderers, but did not get a professional deal and he joined Farnborough Town in 1997 before making the move to Brentford in the summer of 1998 for an amount of PS45,000 as a transfer fee. In the five seasons he spent in Brentford there were an average of 186 appearances across all competitions and scored 23 goals.
Since since then, Rowlands has suffered many injuries, but has not returned to his peak performance of 2003/04. In 2006/07, he scored 10 goals in midfield.
In 2007/08 he was selected captain, and was regularly among Rangers` best performers. He played 43 league games, scoring 6 goals, including a memorable brace in Rangers’ 4–2 victory at Watford. He won both the Supporters’ Player of the Year and the Ray Jones Players’ Player of the Year award. As of January 2012 Rowlands was the longest-serving member of the QPR squad having spent 9 years at the club.
