Moodie first became known to the world when he made it to the third round of Wimbledon in 2003. He fell to Sebastien Grosjean, who defeated at his home in the United States later that year. Moodie took home his first tour event of the top flight when he won in 2005 the Japan Open, beating fifth seed Mario Ancic in the final 1-6 7-6, 6-4 after securing two match points during the tie break (he already saved four match point in his semi-final against Jarkko Nieminen).
