Maria Elisabeth Rooth (born 2 November 1979 in Angelholm, Sweden) is an Swedish professional ice hockey player. She is the sole University of Minnesota Duluth women’s hockey player to see her jersey retired over the surface in the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center. Rooth is the alternate captain and is one of the most skilled members of the Swedish national team that she has been a member of since 1996.

Rooth was back in Duluth to serve as the assistant coach of Minnesota’s Duluth Bulldogs’ women’s hockey hockey team during the 2010-11 season.

In 2015, Rooth was inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame.

Rooth was the Bulldogs the all-time top goal scorer, scoring scores of 119 in her career and is second in career scoring points with 232. She was three-time All-American (2001 2002, 2001 2003) and three-time First All-WCHA First. Additionally she was named one of the teams Rookies of year in the 2000 season. The 2000-01 season was when Rooth received the title of most valuable player in the Frozen Four, and the MVP of the WCHA Tournament that same season. On January 21, 2011 Rooth as well as Bulldog former players Caroline Ouellette and Jenny Potter were part of a ceremony match to commemorate the first ever game played at Amsoil Arena.
