She is a member of the Center for Cell and Gene Therapy and a founding member and director of the Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine (STaR) Center.

Dr. Goodell is Chair of the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Baylor College of Medicine, Director of the Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine (STaR) Center, and a member of the National Academy of Medicine. She is best known for her discovery of a novel method to isolate adult stem cells.
