Dingeldein was a graduate of Merced High School. He was a water polo high- school All-American and a member of the U.S. Junior National Team. She was named National Merit Finalist in 1998 after she was named valedictorian of her high-school class.

Dingeldein, a Stanford University freshman in 1999 was the Cardinals’ top goal scorer with 45 goals. She was named Academic All-American and first-team all- tournament in water polo at the National Tournament. She was again the leader in scoring, with 59 goals, and was awarded First Team All-America by American Water Polo Coaches Association. In the four National Championships games, Dingeldein scored nine goals for the team, four of which were in a victory over Princeton University. Dingeldein, who scored 48 goals in 2001, was second on the team and earned Academic All-American again. In 2002, Dingeldein was again second with 35 goals, as Stanford’s women’s waterpolo team beat the UCLA Bruins 8-4 at the NCAA Women’s Water Polo Championships. This result gave the Cardinal its first NCAA waterpolo title. Dingeldein graduated in 2002 from Stanford University with a degree of human biology.
