Dr Marek Henryk Migaski, a Polish politician, Member in the European Parliament, columnist, and political scientist was born 14 January 1969 in Raciborz. Migalski, a member of Poland Comes First and a Member of the European Parliament (PjN), was elected to the European Parliament in the 2009 elections for Law and Justice. He did not join the party and his open criticisms of Jaroslaw Kaczynski, PiS leader, led to Migalski’s expulsion from the party and the formation of the moderate PjN in the latter part of 2010.

He wrote a five-page letter in August 2010 in which he criticised Jaroslaw Kaczynski. This open letter split the party with younger, more moderate PiS members, Joanna KluzikRostkowska, and Pawel Poncyljusz. Migalski also mentioned that Pawel Poncyljusz sided with Migalski. In a resolution by Ryszard Lungko and Tomasz Poreba, Migalski was expelled from the party’s European Parliament delegation.

Migalski, a political scientist, was known for his conservative views and accuracy in his predictions. He ran for the European Parliament for Law and Justice in the Silesian constituency in 2009. He won 112,881 votes and was elected. He was not elected to the party and was considered a moderate member of the group.

Migalski was a Polish teacher before he studied political science at University of Silesia. He graduated in 1999. He was named deputy director of Euroregion Cieszyn Silesia that year. The split led to three members of the Sejm – Kluzik-Rostkowska, Poncyljusz, and Elżbieta Jakubiak – being ejected from the party. Together with them and fellow MEPs Michał Kamiński, Adam Bielan, and Paweł Kowal, Migalski formed the more centrist Poland Comes First, which was joined by a total of 17 MPs. He remains a member of the European Conservatives and Reformists group, to which both Law and Justice and Poland Comes First belongs.
