Triantafillopoulos was a child of Konstantinos Triantafyllopoulos (a Major General in gendarmerie), who was born in Thessaloniki, in 1954. He hailed originally from Leontio, Achaea and Eugenia. His father, who was killed in January 2012, was an officer. He had been serving for many years as a member of the personal security detail of late prime minister GeorgiosPapandreou. He was exiled and court marshaled during the junta period.
He co-published the weekly newspaper Veto in November 2009 with Thanasis Lasas. It was shut down by financial difficulties in December 2010. Thanasis lalas had previously left the newspaper.
In 2005, along with Tasos Karamitsos and Themos Anastasiadis, he co-founded the newspaper Proto Thema, the first issue of which was published on 27 February 2015. In March 2008, it was announced that Triantafyllopoulos sold his share of the newspaper (40%) to the Pegasus publishing company of the Bobolas family, for about 7.5 million euros.
He also had broadcast television and publishing activities. He also maintained a news website called Zougla.gr. He was elected vice-president at Iraklis FC in August 2008.

Efthimios Triantafillopoulos, also known as Makes Triantaphullopoulos in Greek, is a Greek journalist. Along with Themos Anastasiadis he was the editor of Proto Thema and the host of two television programs, Zougla on Alter Channel and Kitrinos Typos.
