Magomed Vagabov is one of the most popular and richest Qadi who was born on January 1, 1975 in Gubden, Russia. Vagabov, an ethnic Dargin was born in Gubden, a Dagestani village. He participated in rallies led by Salafist Sheikh Muhammad Bagauddin to allow Soviet Muslims to travel to Hajj. In 1992, his village was visited by a group from the Islamic missionary organization Tablighi Jamaat. Vagabov, a native speaker of Arabic, was their translator and traveled with them throughout Dagestan.
He was involved in the organization of the 2010 Moscow Metro Bombings that killed 40 people and injured more than 100. Mariam Sharipova was reportedly one of the suicide bombers. However, her father denied it.
Vagabov was killed along with 4 other militants during a raid of the FSB on Gunib village in August 2010.

Vagabov, then 19, went to Pakistan for religious instruction. He memorized the Koran. He then moved to Karachi where he learned Farsi and Urdu and studied Shariah. He returned to Dagestan in 1997 and opened a Gubden mosque. He was also reported to have visited Chechnya in 1997 and attended the training camp run by Khattab, an Arab field commander.
After returning to Dagestan, he took part in militant activities until he surrendered to the authorities in 2001. He would return to militancy, and work his way up through the ranks of Shariat Jaat. Dokku Umarov appoint Vagabov to the positions of emir of Vilayat Daagestan and Qadi of the Caucasus Sharia Sharia Court, replacing the former positions held by the late Umalat Magnomedov and Anzor Astemirov.
