Roberts was appointed head coach of Cal State Chico in 2002. She coached there from 2002 to 2006. Roberts’ record at Cal State Chico was 86-31. The Wildcats won school records in 2005 and 2006, while also finishing first in their conference. The 2005 title was the first CCAA championship in Cal State Chico’s history. The Wildcats reached the NCAA Tournament West region Championship that season. In 2006, the Wildcats made it to the D2 Final Four.

On April 20, 2015, it was announced that the University of Utah hired Roberts as their next head women’s basketball coach. In her first season Roberts led Utah to an 18–15 record, Utah’s first winning season since 2012–13.

In March 2015, Roberts was selected as one of three WCC coaches to be named co-coach of the year. The other two are Saint Mary’s Gaels coach Paul Thomas and Gonzaga Bulldogs coach Lisa Fortier.

Roberts graduated from Seattle Pacific and continued her pursuit of a master’s. Roberts was a student assistant for Falcons while she pursued her master’s degree. Roberts led the Falcons to a record of 113-31 and five consecutive NCAA Division 2 appearances over five seasons. Roberts received a master’s in athletic administration in 2000.

Roberts was a student at Seattle Pacific University, where she played for Falcons. Roberts was a member of the Falcons from 1993 to 1997. She set school records for making 3-pointers in a single season at 82, and for three point percentage in a game when made 7 of 8 against Willamette. Roberts remembers the moment when she won the game-winning 3-pointers against Division I’s UC Davis Aggies as her most memorable moment in college. Roberts received a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Davis in history in 1997.
