Rueck has been the leader of his team of Beavers towards the NCAA tournament for the past four years. The 28th of March, 2016 his team beat Kim Mulkey’s Baylor Bears 60-57 to secure their first trip ever into the NCAA Final Four in Indianapolis to face one of the best teams in the nation; Geno Auriemma’s Connecticut Huskies on April 3. The Beavers ended their season with a loss of 80-51 to eventual champion UConn Huskies to finish their season with a record of 32-4. The 32 wins of the season were the most wins in the history of women’s basketball and the Beavers ended their season as the second best team in the country.
Rueck became the new coach for the Beavers in July of 2010 to succeed LaVonda Wagner.

Rueck was born at Hillsboro, Oregon, where Rueck graduated from Glencoe High School. His father was the first basketball coach at Glencoe and was also the head teacher in Hillsboro High School. After graduating from high school, he went to Oregon State University in Corvallis and graduated with an associate’s degree in sports and exercise science in the year 1991. While at OSU the coach began his profession with Santiam Christian High School in close by Adair Village. He was an assistant for the basketball team for boys from 1989 to 1993. The year 1992 was the time he received an master’s degree at Oregon State in physical education.
The year 1993 was when Rueck was appointed an assistant coach job in 1993 at George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon, with the women’s basketball team. Rueck was appointed director of women’s basketball team in the year 1996. She also was the coach of in the tennis women’s team for a period of time from 1995 until 1996. At George Fox, Rueck had been the coach of his Bruins with an overall record of 85-8 between 2007 and 2010. He was also awarded the NW Conference’s best head coach in the 4th time in a row during the season. in 2009 Rueck led his Bruins into a winning 32-0 mark and won the NCAA Division III national title. The same year, he also named the national coach in Division III women’s basketball. In all, he posted an overall record of 288-88 wins and losses during his 14 years as a the coach for George Fox.
