Stanley’s success led to him being invited to the Winnipeg Jets training camps before the 2017-18 NHL season. However, he was not selected and was sent back home to the OHL. Stanley was suspended for two games during the 2017-18 OHL season after he head-checked Akil Thomas in a game against Niagara IceDogs. After the Rangers were eliminated in the 2018 OHL playoffs, the Jets gave Stanley to the Manitoba Moose.

During the 2016–17 season, Stanley injured his knee in January and did not return to the lineup until April. On May 28, 2017, Stanley won the Memorial Cup Championship with the Windsor Spitfires.

After attending the Jets 2018 training camp, Stanley was reassigned to the Manitoba Moose to begin his first professional season.

Stanley was awarded a three-year entry-level contract by the Winnipeg Jets on December 7, 2016.
