Kirk started his career at the Sheffield Steelers, an English Elite Ice Hockey League club.
Kirk has represented the British national team at several international tournaments, both junior and senior. He made his senior debut at the 2018 IIHF World Championship Division I. This was where he helped Great Britain to be promoted to the 2019 World Championship. This is Great Britain’s first appearance in the elite division since 1994. Kirk played five games but did not score any points.
In June 2018 he was drafted in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft by the Arizona Coyotes, becoming the first player born and trained in England to be drafted into the NHL.
Internationally Kirk has played for the British national team, and helped them win promotion to the Elite Division at the 2018 IIHF World Championship Division I tournament. He also helped ensure the team a place at the 2020 IIHF World Championship at the 2019 IIHF World Championship.
Kirk has represented Great Britain in all age groups. He was a U18 player and won a gold medal in the 2017-18 season. He won a variety of awards for the U20s including Best Forward, Most Assists and Most Goals. He represented Great Britain’s men’s team at the Division 1A World Championships, even though he didn’t score any points. Great Britain won the tournament, and was promoted to the top tier in world ice hockey. They will now be competing against top hockey nations like Canada, USA and Finland.

Kirk started playing for the Sheffield Junior Academy. He was selected to the Midlands Conference, a team of the top players in the Midlands region at U11, 13 and 15 years old.
