Levente, a former professional goaltender from Hungary, was born June 11, 1980 in Budapest. The Calgary Flames drafted him 116th in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. He was the Hungarian team’s number one goalie, and they were promoted to the 2009 World championship. He is currently the general manger of Schiller-Vasas HC in the Erste Liga.

After leaving Calgary in 2002-03, Szuper was traded to the St. Louis Blues. He played in the 2003-04 season with their ECHL affiliate, The Peoria Rivermen.

After the year in Peoria, Szuper tried to find a team in Europe for the lockout season of 2004. He had a trial with the Eisbären Berlin, but suffered an injury which demolished his chances of getting a contract. He played for Dunaújváros in the Hungarian league and then signed for Asiago HC of the Italian Serie A for the 2005-06 season.

Having played most of the next campaign with the Füchse Duisburg of the DEL, Szuper was signed by Malmö Redhawks for the 2007 Kvalserien (the relegation- round playoffs of the Swedish Elitserien). In the autumn he returned to Italy, this time with the Milano Vipers.

Szuper was not selected in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft so he returned home to Ottawa where he continued to be a star. In the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, he was drafted #4 (#116) by the Calgary Flames. Szuper would spend the next three seasons playing for the Saint John Flames in the American Hockey League. He won a Calder Cup title for the 2000-01 season.

Szuper started playing hockey in Hungary as a child, and he also had a talent for the arts. Although he was a skilled actor and pianist, it was behind the pipes that Szuper rose to prominence. As a 16-year old, he starred in Ferencvarosi TC and led the team’s last domestic title. For the 1997-98 season, he was promoted to the Krefeld Pinguine junior team and performed admirably at the 1998 Pool C World Championships.

Despite his success in Europe Szuper was not well-known when he entered the Ontario Hockey League with the Ottawa 67s in 1998. Szuper was a great net player during the 1998-1999 season. He also shared his time with Seamus Kotyk. As the host team for the 1999 Memorial Cup, the 67s defeated the Belleville Bulls in semifinals to reach the Memorial Cup championship against Calgary Hitmen. Ottawa won 7-6 in overtime and Szuper was awarded the F. W. “Dinty” Moore Trophy for the best rookie goalie.

During the 2002–03 season, Szuper was called up to the NHL with Calgary due to an injury of starting netminder Roman Turek. Szuper dressed for 9 games as the backup for Jamie McLennan, but never played. He is the first Hungarian native to appear on an active NHL roster for a game, but does not appear in the NHL register since he wasn’t given any icetime.
