How did King Tubby get his name?
The nickname “Tubby” referred to his proficiency with tube amplifiers. With the birth and growth of sound systems, came the need for an accomplished electronic repairman. One day a sound system operator approached Osbourne for help with a repair. Soon after he was repairing sound systems all over Kingston.
Why did King Tubby get shot?
King Tubby’s life was cut tragically short on 6 February 1989, the victim of another senseless murder. The unidentified gunman took cash, jewellery, and most notably, Tubby’s licensed firearm , which was probably the reason he was targeted in the first place.
