Kati Winkler is one of the most popular and richest Figure Skater who was born on January 16, 1974 in Chemnitz, Saxony, Germany. Kati Winkler (born 16 January 1974) is an German former ice dancer who competed in the past. Alongside her co-partner Rene Lohse, she is the 2004 World bronze medalist, and the six-time German National Champion. They participated in the two Winter Olympics, in 1998 and 2002.

They were unable to participate in their 2003 World Championships due to injury as well as their participation in the 2004 European Championships after Lohse injured his knee ligaments couple of days before the competition. They returned just in time for their participation in the 2004 World Championships where they took home their bronze award. This was the biggest German accomplishment in ice dance since 1973, which was the time of Angelika Buck and Rich Buck. They resigned from competition following the performance.

The year 2000-01 was when Winkler along with Lohse made history as the only German team of ice dancers to be selected for the Grand Prix Final, where they came in fifth. They were absent for the majority of the season of 2001-2002 following Lohse was injured in a fall during the 2001 Sparkassen Cup, injuring the meniscus and ligaments of his knee. They returned just in time to compete in the Olympics which they placed 8th. The summer of 2002 saw Lohse was involved in a collision with a truck when cycling within Oberstdorf, “I went over the handlebars and fell on my shoulder. The bone was sticking up straight through my shoulder where I cut three ligaments.” He recovered enough to take part in a couple of Grand Prix events and qualify for the Grand Prix Final. But, they were not able to participate in the Final due to Winkler was suffering from influenza, and Lohse had an injury to his muscles on his leg.

Winkler began skating at age four after being chosen for the sport at kindergarten. She was initially only a single skater who was trained by Peter Meyer. As a single skater, she relocated from Berlin in 1985, and was instructed by Jurgen Bertko.
