The year 1986 was the time that Justin Beckett became the first employee of Sloan Financial Group, a multi-faceted asset management company, in which he was the chief executive for two subsidiaries, NCM Capital Management and New Africa Advisers.
In 2002, as an employee on the Intermix Media/MySpace executive team, Beckett reinvented his Music Gaming, Inc software platform. She also founded SkillJam Technologies. SkillJam Technologies received approximately $2 million in capital for growth from Intermix Media/MySpace. It was the first skill-based gaming website. SkillJam formed alliances with a variety of well-known entertainment brands, including AOL, MSN, MySpace, PopCap Games and Disney.
In 2004, Intermix Media/MySpace sold SkillJam Technologies to FUN Technologies, a diversified online gaming and entertainment company which in turn became a subsidiary of Liberty Media in 2006.
In 2008, Beckett founded Engage Play Technologies (formerly AffinityTV247, Inc.) with friend and business partner, Cecil Cox and currently serves as the company’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
After having left the investment management business at the end of 2000 Beckett created and became the CEO at Music Gaming, Inc. Music Gaming was an Internet -based gaming site that was based on music which was the first to create the largest music trivia database that is annotated. The funds for the venture were given through VIZX Corporation and in 2001, Music Gaming, Inc. was sold to Intermix Media/MySpace.
