Jozef Heriban is one of the most popular and richest Screenwriter who was born on July 9, 1953 in Trnava, Trnava Region, Slovakia. Jozef Heriban was born on the 23rd of March 1953, in Trnava, Slovakia. He studied the trombone and accordion in the Conservatory in Bratislava aesthetics, as well as slovak literary studies in the Comenius University in Bratislava, where he was awarded his title Doctor Philosopher PhDr.(1985). He worked for 11 seasons within the Slovak film studio as a scriptwriter film director and script editor, as well as the Head Producer for feature films (1981 to 1992). He worked with the top Slovak director of films: Dusan Hanak, Juraj Jakubisko Dusan Trancik Juraj Herz Dusan Rapos Stanislav Parnicky Martin Tapak and many more.

In 1994, he established an production business TATRA Star Ltd. together with Jozef Slovak, and Pavol Jursa. Between 1994 and 1996, the company made the comedy television show Bud Bindi. The show consisted of the stories of two enduring adversaries – a likable fool and a successful born loser, who are warned of any impossible circumstance and was a huge hit among viewers of Slovakia and abroad. The specific episodes won prizes at International television and film festivals and were distributed to 19 different countries.

His novel Somebody is Always Whistling at Me (Niekto na mňa stále píska) was published in 1996. It had won First Prize in the Literary Fund’s anonymous competition (1993). In 2007 he wrote and published a book about communication, brand and creativity, Success Has a Heart of the Shark (Úspech má srdce žraloka), which was voted for the Book of the Year 2007“.

In 1996 Heriban began work in TV Markiza as a Head of Public Relations. He was responsible for marketing and PR strategy, coordination of interviews, press releases and branding. Later he was the Director of Public Relations in EuroTel Bratislava (1998 – 1999) and in 1999 he came back to TV Markiza as the Director of Advertising. Between 2002 and 2006 he was a member of the Slovak National Council and an observer and a deputy of the European Parliament. After 2007 he has worked a Director of Marketing in International Film Festival Bratislava. At present, he is the President of the Slovak PEN Centre, member of the Slovak Film and Television Academy, lecturer at the Faculty of Management of Comenius University in Bratislava and he devotes his time to literature.,.

Alongside Jozef Slovak, he also wrote and directed the tragedy Island of Long Ears (Davajte si pozor) which was given by the Prize for the best First Film at the 15th International Film Festival in Cairo (1991) and an Gold Award at the 25th IFF in Houston (1992) and the Gold Award on the 16th IFF in Philadelphia (1993).

Along with Jozef Slovak, they created his script to the incredibly well-loved comedy Run He’s coming! (Utekajme, uz ide! ) (Utekajme, uz ide! ), which was awarded”Utekajme, Uz Ide!,” which was awarded the “Zlaty Prim” prize for the most outstanding film at the 9th Film Festival in Nove Mesto nad Metuji (1987) as well as the storyline for the movie Southern Post (Juzna posta) that was awarded the Czechoslovak Film Prize at the 26th Festival of Films in Brno.
