After the graduation ceremony at Nebraska, Hooper was drafted by the WNBA’s Tulsa Shock with the first selection of the second selection (13th overall) of the 2014 WNBA Draft. Hooper was included on the final roster of the team in the 2014 WNBA season.

After her junior year during her time at Nebraska, Hooper was a member of the United States team in the 2013 Summer Universiade in Kazan, Russia. Hooper got her first chance to play in the final game of the tournament and performed. She assisted the team in getting ahead early and ended up scoring the team’s highest score of nine points, and nine rebound. The average was 6.5 scores and 5.8 each game, as the team was awarded the Gold Medal in the tournament.

Hooper was born on a farm outside of Alliance, Nebraska. As a high-school athlete she was twice named her Gatorade Champion in Nebraska and helped lead Alliance High School to a state championship in her freshman year in 2007. Alongside her basketball experience she also was an all-state volleyball player , and was a long jumper for the track team of the school.

In Nebraska, Hooper played four years under coach Connie Yori and left the team as one of the greatest players of all time. As a four-year starter, Hooper led her team of Cornhuskers through to NCAA Tournament berths in each of her three seasons (2012 2013, 2013 2014) which included a trip to the Sweet Sixteen as a junior. She was named to the first team of the All-Big Ten Conference for the three seasons, and ended her career with receiving the title of Big Ten Player of the Year by the coaches of the league in 2014. In her entire career she scored 2,357 point (18.0 per contest) and racked up 1,100 rebound (8.5 each game). She became the third athlete in school history to reach the 2,000 point/1,000 rebound mark.
