The project examines what he calls the “inner worlds of families escaping poverty and violence in Central America — and pieces together the complex reasons people leave their homes in search of a better life”. “Shadow Lives USA” will be launched in 2020.
Lowenstein is currently spending the last twenty years engaged in two major documentary projects, one focusing on his home community in the Chicago’s South Side and the other documenting the lives of the undocumented Latin Americans coming to and living in the United States.
