Jonathan Darryl Klemm (born January 8th in 1990) was an Canadian former professional defenceman in ice hockey playing in the National Hockey League. In 2018, he’s an assistant coach for Winnipeg ICE of the Western Hockey League. Winnipeg ICE of the Western Hockey League that was previously named the Kootenay ICE which relocated from Cranbrook, British Columbia to Winnipeg in the run-up to the 2019/2020 season.

On the 20th of August 2007 Klemm was signed with The Los Angeles Kings as a free agent. Prior to the 2007-08 season the 28th of September, 2007 Klemm was assigned to the Kings’ AHL affiliate, the Manchester Monarchs, where he was captain. The 2008-09 season was the last time it was his last year playing professional soccer within the German DEL for the Straubing Tigers.

Following during the 2004 NHL lockout in 2004, Klemm was instrumental in helping the Stars get back to playoffs for the 2005-06 season before losing to their former team the Avalanche at the Western Conference Quarterfinals. In the 2006-07 season Klemm was signed again by the Stars with an option to join the club on June 28th in 2006. Klemm played most of the season playing as a healthy reserve, but his last assist enabled him to reach the landmark 100 assists for his career. The assist was coincidentally on Mike Modano’s 500th goal in a 3-2 win against Philadelphia Flyers on March 13, 2007. Following his win of the Memorial Cup in 1991 as Spokane Chief, after winning the Memorial Cup in 1991 as a Spokane Chief Klemm was signed as a no-cost free player to the Quebec Nordiques on May 14 in 1991. Klemm spent the following four years primarily working with Nords affiliates, including the Halifax Citadels and the Cornwall Aces of the AHL prior to when the Nords changed their name to part of the Colorado Avalanche. Klemm was the first player to play a entire season with the NHL in the Avalanche’s debut season in 1995-96. He was instrumental in helping the Avs achieve the first Stanley Cup. Klemm spent the following five seasons as a part of the Avalanche defense and was instrumental in helping the Avalanche get their first Stanley Cup victory in the 2000-01 season.

After a decade of service as a player for the Quebec/Colorado franchise being second in the all-time number of matches performed by Avalanche defensemen, the player left as an unrestricted free agent and joined the Chicago Blackhawks on July 1 2001. Klemm played in a greater role with the Blackhawks and was a part of the most games of his career, 82 during the 2001-02 campaign with 20 points. The following season was his final playing for the newly rebuilt Blackhawks, Klemm was traded to the Dallas Stars for Stephane Robidas on the 17th of November the 17th of November, 2003.

On April 1, 2009 Klemm officially retired from the professional ranks. On May 26, 2009, Klemm returned to his junior team, the Spokane Chiefs, when he was named assistant coach for the 2009–10 season.
