Joji Kato is one of the most popular and richest Skater who was born on February 6, 1985 in Yamagata, Yamagata Prefecture, Japan. Joji Kato (Jia Teng Tiao Zhi , Kato Joji) (born 6 February, 1985) is an Japanese speedskater who excels at the speed skating distance race that spans 500 metres. At the age of 17, Joji Kato became the first junior speedskater to race 500 metres in under 35 seconds.

In the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia, he was again representing Japan and placed 5th in the 500m time with a total of two sessions in 69.74 and a single fastest time of 34.77 in front of Mo Tae-bum, along with the Mulder siblings (Michel as well as Ronald), Jan Smeekens and Mo Tae-bum.

He was a representative of Japan during his participation in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver where he was awarded bronze in the men’s 500m.
