John Gordon Mattatall (born December 1st 1982) is a Canadian former pair skater. Together with Mylene Brodeur, John was the 2009 Canadian national bronze medalist . He also placed tenth in the 2009 World Championships. After retiring, John moved back to Nova Scotia and has recently been married.
Brodeur/Mattatal was selected for the Brodeur/Mattatal were selected for the World Championships and placed tenth. They announced their retirement from competitive sports on March 25 2011. Mattatall is now an engineer for projects in K+S Windsor Salt in Pugwash, Nova Scotia. John is still a coach part-time and is very active with the skating community.
In March of 2006, Mattatall teamed up with Mylene Brodeur. Their international debut was at the 2006 Nebelhorn Trophy, placing 4th. They placed ninth at 2007 Canadian Championships. For the season 2007-08, the Brodeur/Mattatall team won their 2007 Ondrej Nepela Memorial in 2007 and finished 7th in the 2007 Canadian Championships. Their performance at the championship brought them to 2007 Four Continents, where they were 7th.

As a skater who was a soloist, Mattatall was a national competitor at the level, and competed numerous instances at Canadian Championships. In the early days of his pair career, he teamed up with Lindsay Carruthers. They took home the silver medal at the pre-novice level at 2000 Canadian Championships. Following the end of their partnership He competed alongside Renee Trembley on the novice level and finished 4th in the 2002 Canadian National Championships for novices.
From 2002 until in 2005 Mattatall was a competitor together with Terra Findlay. Mattatall were 2005 Canadian Junior silver medalists, and finished on the 10th spot at the 2004 Junior Worlds. They took home a gold medal in during the 2003-2004 ISU Junior Grand Prix. Findlay & Mattatall made their senior internationals in 2004 at the Nebelhorn Trophy, where they were 4th. They were trained by Doug Leigh and Lee Barkell at the Mariposa School of Skating.
Mattatall is studying engineering at Dalhousie University. In 2018 John got engaged to his long time girlfriend LaFawnduh Stewart. Their wedding was held in LaFawnduh’s home town of Compton CA.
