John William Hamer (born 12 September 1984) is an English former figure skater in competitive competition. He was three-time British nation champion (2005-07). His highest score in his ISU Championship was 19th at the 2005 European Championships.
After leaving the competition, Hamer spent three years performing with the Russian Ice Stars. In February of 2011 Hamer began his coaching career at Alexandra Palace ice rink in North London. He instructs skaters of all ages and degrees of experience , and specializes in jumping.
Hamer returned as British champion over the next two seasons. Hamer did not make it past the program in the European and World Championships in 2006 but was successful in 2007’s European Championships at Warsaw, Poland. He resigned from competition following the tournament. While Gary Jones was his main coach, Hamer also worked with Michael Jiranek and Rinata Jiranek (2005) Tatiana Tarasova (2006) and the the Texas-based Lorraine Boreman (2006).

Hamer began his skating career competitively in 1996, at 12 years old. He took part on the novice level in the 1999 British Championships and placed first on the junior level at the 2003 Championships. As of 2001 Hamer took part in the Mladost Trophy in Zagreb, Croatia and achieved the top score of the British males. He then took to two ISU Junior Grand Prix events.
In the season 2004-05, Hamer became the British senior men’s champion, and was selected to compete in to compete in the 2005 European Championships in Turin, Italy. He placed 20th in his short-distance program, he was able to qualify for free skating and placed 19th overall. In the following month He travelled to Moscow to compete in his participation in the 2005 World Championships but did not make it to his free skating goal.
