John Brownlie is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on March 11, 1952 in Caldercruix, Scotland, United Kingdom. John Brownlie (born 11 March 1952) is an Scottish former player in the Scottish football team and coach. Brownlie was a right-back with Pumpherston juniors Hibernian, Newcastle United, Middlesbrough, Hartlepool United, Berwick Rangers, Blyth Spartans, and The Scotland the national side. Brownlie later became manager of Cowdenbeath, Meadowbank Thistle, East Stirlingshire, Arbroath and Berwick Rangers.
Then he moved to Clyde and worked as an assistant manager for Alex Smith, before managing East Stirlingshire from 1997 until 1998.
He later returned to East Stirlingshire as a coach, taking temporary charge of the first team in 2008 after the resignation of Gordon Wylde.
Brownlie was appointed manager of Berwick Rangers in May 2019 ahead of a relegation play-off, which they lost to Cove Rangers. He was replaced by Ian Little as Berwick manager after they were relegated to the Lowland League.
In 1988, Brownlie earned his first managerial position at Cowdenbeath and was promoted from into the Scottish Second Division prior to his departure in 1992.

Brownlie was recruited to Hibernian at the age of Pumpherston juniors as a player in the year 1969. He Brownlie stayed there at Easter Road for nine years. Brownlie was part of 1972’s League Cup winning team and was also awarded runners-up awards during 1973 (Scottish Cup) and 1974 (League Cup).
Later on, he was a player with Newcastle United, Middlesbrough, Hartlepool United, Berwick Rangers and Blyth Spartans. After his retirement in the year 1986, he was the manager of an Hotel in his home in the English North-East.
After a spell running the youth teams at Raith Rovers, Brownlie managed Arbroath between 2000 and 2003 where he led the club to promotion from the Scottish Second Division and kept them in the Scottish First Division for two seasons.
