In his professional career, Acosta has played and recorded with Joe Quijano, Tony Pabon and La Protesta, Bobby Rodriguez, Joe Cuba, Orchestra Flamboyan, Vitin Aviles, Ismael Rivera, Orchestra Broadway, Yomo Toro, and Mon Rivera. Acosta has composed and recorded songs for a variety of artists. One of them was his song for the Jonas Brothers “Chillin in the Summertime” for Disney’s Jonas L.A. TV show in Julyof 2010.
In the 1970s Acosta was more popular and released his first album, The Power of Love in the early 1970s, which was released by Ghetto Records. Acosta composed the majority of the songs which included The 21 week Billboard Latin Top 10 single “I Need Her.” At the close of the 70s Acosta along with the band recorded the album Asi Soy Yo and Encore and played throughout Puerto Rico, Spain, Colombia and Venezuela. Acosta also loved playing salsa as well as Latin jazz on numerous recordings recorded by SMC Pro Arte Records. The singer also composed”the” Ray Rivera hit “Listen to Louie” for SMC Pro-Arte.
