Jason Carl Gardener, MBE (born 18 September 1975) is a former British sprinter. He took home the Olympic gold medal in the 4x 100m relay during the 2004 Olympic Games and also was an 2004 World Indoor Champion at 60 metres.

2000 witnessed Gardener succeed during the European indoor 60m taking gold and breaking the 50 m national record by clocking 5.61 s. However, he suffered an injury in the summer months and, despite getting the way to Sydney to compete in the Olympics the athlete did not make it through the initial rounds.

2003 saw another World indoors bronze despite being hampered by a hamstring injury but the following year he bettered this to take the gold, his first world individual title ahead of the fancied Shawn Crawford of the USA.

Gardener made the squad for the 2004 Summer Olympics where he competed in the 100 m and won the gold medal in the 4 × 100 m relay with Darren Campbell, Marlon Devonish and Mark Lewis-Francis in a 38.07 s, their season’s best and a narrow upset win over the United States.

In 1999, he won bronze in the World indoors in the 60-meter race, beating his own British record. And later in the year, he saw him record 9.98 breaking the 10-second barrier for the very first time at the 100m. He was also a part of the national record-breaking 4 100 m relay together with Darren Campbell, Marlon Devonish and Dwain Chambers. They set the record the record in Seville, Spain running 37.73 seconds.

Gardener was born in Bath, Somerset to a Jamaican father and a British mother. Gardener began his professional career at the World Junior Championships in 1994 when he placed second in the 100 m individual race and then improved to win his very first Gold medal one of four 100 m relay team.

After joining the senior ranks and being coached under Malcolm Arnold for his entire career, Gardener took another silver in the 60-meter race during the European Indoor Championships of 1998. Gardener was not selected to be part of the relay team that won gold.
