Jari Huttunen is one of the most popular and richest Rally Driver who was born on February 28, 1994 in Kiuruvesi, Finland. Jari Huttunen, a Finnish rally driver hailing from Kiuruvesi, was born 28 February 1994. He is currently competing in the World Rally Championship-2 for Hyundai Motorsport, which is the top support category of World Rally Championship. After winning the 2017 Rally Finland in WRC-2, he gained international fame.
Jari Huttunen started a full-time program for the European Rally Championship’s ERC-3 junior class for Opel and a few other regional rallies. Huttunen was able to have a British Chris Ingram as a teammate in the ERC-3 class. Huttunen won the Finnish and German championships, which was a strong start to the season. Ingram was consistently outpacing him in the ERC, and he took only 2nd place at the Canary Islands Rally with half the year gone. Huttunen then returned to the World Rally Championship’s premier support category, World Rally Championship-2. He raced for Printsport at Rally Finland. After a short shakedown at a regional rally, Huttunen was racing a Skoda Fabia R5 in this rally. He won the WRC-2 class by 2 minutes 17.8 seconds, beating Quentin Gilbert, much to the delight of many. This was his second rally in the World Rally Championship. Huttunen completed the remainder of the course with Opel Junior Team and finished 3rd in European Rally Championship-3. Hyundai Motorsport took Huttunen along with other hopeful drivers to two test stages after the ERC season was over. This was in order to select a driver for their 2018 HyundaiR5 development program. Huttunen won against stiff competition from Gus Greensmith and Kalle Rovanpera. Huttunen was in Great Britain for his first rally with Hyundai at the end 2017 season. After five stages, he was unable to finish due to mechanical problems.
Huttunen participated in select WRC-2 events for Hyundai Motorsport during the 2018 season. These included the Rally Sweden, Rally Mexico, and Rally Mexico. Huttunen failed to win these rallies and was 6th in WRC-2. He also didn’t manage to beat the more competitive packages offered by Skoda Motorsport or Tommi Makinen Racing at Sweden. Huttunen finished 6th in Mexico after being forced to withdraw from legs 1 and 2. This was over an hour slower than class winner Pontus Tidemand. Despite these shortcomings, Huttunen returned stronger to the end of the season. He fought for WRC-2 Class victory on most stages of Rally Finland and finished second in the WRC-2 category behind Eerik Pietarinen, WRC debutante. Huttunen made a return for the European Rally Championship for Rally Poland. This time, he was competing for overall honours in a Hyundai-entered BRC Racing Team. Huttunen was within striking distance of winning the rally. His closest rival was Nikolay Gryazin from Sports Racing Technologies. He was forced to settle for second again, despite a late charge in final stages. Huttunen finished his Hyundai development season at the Wales Rally GB. He was 4th in WRC-2 and took 8th place in the World Rally Championship-2 standings.

Huttunen, who was 19 years old in 2013, decided to stop competing in go-kart racing and focus his efforts on rallying. Huttunen was hired by AKK Driver Academy and began local rallying using a Suzuki Swift. Huttunen was only able to achieve 57th in one rally. He then swapped it for an Opel Kadett and won a class at the Oulujarvi rally while also placing 5th overall. Huttunen drove an Opel in 2014, but switched to an Astra. He finished 4th overall and won another class at the Pohjola rally. This was an improvement on his 57th-place finish the previous year. Despite his poor results, Huttunen was able to secure enough funding to participate in the Finnish Rally Championship. AKK Driver Academy provided him with a Citroen Car2 R2 car for the last two rallies in 2014. These were his first rallies in FIA-homologated equipment. He finished on the podium in the junior class at the end of the season.
His breakout year in the Finnish junior rallying scene would be 2015, his first season. Printsport hired Huttunen, a member of AKK Academy, to drive a Citroen Citroen R2 R2 in the Finnish junior championship 2015. Huttunen started the 2015 season by finishing on the podium at the Arctic Lapland Rally. This was his first long-distance race. Huttunen would win two class wins, and take two more podiums as the season progressed. Huttunen made his World Rally Championship debut at Rally Finland in the WRC-3 category later in the season. He was in 4th position when he crashed on the second leg, forcing him to withdraw from the rally. He was a very unremarkable 8th place finisher at the end of the rally. He didn’t let this stop him from winning the SM3 Class at the Finnish Rally Championship. This was his first regional championship victory. He was then named the “Rally Star of the Future” in Finland by the organizers of the Finnish Championship.
After a moderately successful season, Huttunen’s role in the Hyundai junior development program was reduced, due to Hyundai putting greater focus on winning the World Rally Championship outright. In his initial start for the 2019 season, he returned to Škoda customer team Printsport for Rally Sweden on a one-rally deal. He performed very strongly and even won the SS8 outright over the main WRC field, an unprecedented feat in R5 rallying. Huttunen would win seven stages over the course of the event, but despite a late charge to catch the WRC-2 class leader Ole Christian Veiby, he would crash out with just two stages to go, running second. Huttunen would return to the Hyundai program with a 3rd place finish at the Pirelli International Rally, a round of the British Rally Championship.
