Jane Little (nee Findley, February 2, 1929 – May 15, 2016, was an American classical double-bass player. She is best known for her extraordinary tenure with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
Guinness World Records says that Little holds the record for the longest tenure with one orchestra. The record was set on February 1, 2016, during a performance. Frances Darger was the previous record holder. She played violin for the Utah Symphony for 70+ years until she retired in 2012.
Little fell on the stage during a performance of “There’s No Business Like Show Business”, which was being performed by the orchestra on May 15, 2016. She died later that same day. At the time, she was being treated for multiple myeloma. She had lost her husband in 2002 and had no immediate relatives.

At 16 years old, Findley was made a charter member in the Atlanta Youth Symphony Orchestra. She made her debut on February 4, 1945. The ensemble was renamed the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (ASO) two years later after it opened its ranks to adult musicians. Findley served as Assistant Principal Bass for the ASO, and performed with the orchestra for more than 71 year.
Findley was the orchestra’s only female member for many years. In September 1953, she married Warren Little, ASO’s principal flutist. Mrs. Little was 4′ 11″ (1.50 m), and said she was happy to have Warren Little, her husband (6′ 2″) tall, transport her double bass, while she carried her flute.
