Ian Allen is one of the most popular and richest American Football Player who was born on July 22, 1978 in Newark, New Jersey, United States. Ian Ramon Allen, born July 22, 1978, is an ex-American football offensive lineman. He was an offensive lineman in the National Football League (NFL), for the New York Giants and the Arizona Cardinals. He was also a member of the NFL Europe team with the Scottish Claymores, and the Canadian Football League with the Montreal Alouettes. He studied communications at Purdue University and was a member of the Purdue Boilermakers.
Jason Whittle and Mike Rosenthal both left the Giants before the 2003 season. This left two open positions on the offensive line. Allen was the Giants’ favorite right tackle at pre-season minicamp. However, he was still competing with four other players to be the starting right tackle. Although the new right side of the offensive lines was not as strong as it should have been in the preseason game against New England Patriots (which they lost), Allen made enough improvements against the Carolina Panthers that he was named the starter for the regular season.
Allen played as the starter at right tackle in each of the Giants’ three minicamps prior to the 2004 preseason, but incoming head coach Tom Coughlin moved right guard David Diehl to the right tackle position before the first preseason game. Allen was originally designated the primary backup at left and right tackle going into the 2004 season, but he was released after the Giants signed Marques Sullivan off waivers.
In April 2005, Allen was signed by the Arizona Cardinals. He participated in training camp and remained on the team through the preseason. Allen was released in early September before the beginning of the regular season but later returned to the team. The Cardinals placed Allen on injured reserve in mid-October.
The New York Giants signed Allen immediately after Allen was released from the Chiefs. After a string of injuries to their offensive linesmen, the Giants signed Allen to the Giants’ active roster in October 2002. Allen was an active backup offensive lineman throughout the rest of the regular season but never saw the action on the offensive sideline. Allen was called to duty as a defensive player on goal-line plays in a game against the Atlanta Falcons in October. Denny Marcin, the defensive line coach, said that Allen was forced to take responsibility for the situation and instructed him to “line up on the right side” and “go straight ahead.” I needed a body. Allen was present for the Giants’ wild card playoff loss to San Francisco 49ers.

The following year, he was an honorable mention on the All-State defensive lineman team. Georgia Tech and Georgia were both interested in Allen, but he decided to “play[ing] for the underdog”. Allen signed with Purdue instead, where he was a right guard. He had verbally committed to playing for the Vanderbilt Commodores defensive lineman. Allen played under Joe Tiller as a defensive lineman and blocked for Drew Brees. He was part of the 2000 Big Ten Conference champion team and the Rose Bowl victory against the Washington Huskies. Allen played in 47 games, including four starts, for the Boilermakers.
Allen was eligible to be drafted in the 2001 NFL Draft, but he was not selected. After being waived by the Chiefs in 2001, Allen was signed as a free agent by the Kansas City Chiefs. He was released before the start of the regular season 2001. Allen had intended to quit football after being released by the Chiefs. However, he accepted a spot in the practice squad for the Atlanta Falcons in January 2002. The Chiefs signed Allen to an initial three- year contract later that month. To gain experience, Allen was invited to play for the Scottish Claymores in NFL Europe during the offseason. Allen had to leave the Claymores to return to the United States after his father suffered a stroke. Allen was able to attend training camp and the preseason, but was released shortly before the regular season began.
In the week after being released by the New York Giants, Allen was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles for the 2004 season. He acted as a backup throughout the season, playing in only four games. The Eagles lost to the New England Patriots 21–24 in Super Bowl XXXIX, where Allen was among the inactive players.

In a Sports Illustrated article published before the start of the regular season, NFL scouts sharply criticized Allen’s play, with one anonymous scout calling him “awful” and another saying “I can’t believe he might start.” Both head coach Jim Fassel and offensive line coach Jim McNally were critical of Allen’s play in the season opener, where a missed block led to a forced fumble from quarterback Kerry Collins. Center Chris Bober started in place of Allen at right tackle the following week. Following a season-ending injury to left guard Rich Seubert, Bober was moved back to center and Allen returned as the starting right tackle. In his second stint as a starter, Allen’s performance was praised by coaches and the media, including after a game against the New York Jets which saw NFL sack leader Shaun Ellis held to half a sack. The offensive line’s performance was “far from overwhelming” in the second half of the season, but they benefited from more consistency in their lineup as Allen continued to start at right tackle. The Giants ended their season with a 4–12 record and did not make the playoffs. Allen started in 11 games at right tackle in 2003.
