In the six months he spent in Bari, Marchese managed a total of 19 appearances , with one goal that was credited to him. At the end of summer 2008 the player returned to Verona however, he was released on loan. He was loaned out to the new launched Serie B outfit, Salernitana which, during one season the young defender played in a record 34 times. In July 2009, he was recalled to Chievo.

On 29 June 2010, Sardo permanently transferred to Chievo and Marchese permanently transferred to Catania ahead of the 2010–11 Serie A season. After spending much of the 2010-11 Serie A season as a reserve for veteran Ciro Capuano at left back, Marchese finally was able to obtain frequent game time under new head coach Vincenzo Montella during the 2011–12 campaign, in-part due to a series of injuries which have limited Capuano to minimal availability. The left-back is part of a record-breaking Catania outfit that had picked up 56 points from 38 Serie A matches. This performance saw the club also break its record number of home victories in a single season, its record number of victories overall in a single top flight campaign, as well as its record points total in Serie A for the fifth consecutive season.

In the summer of 2013 he moved to Genoa; in January 2017 back again to play in Catania.

The 1st of July, 2008. Marchese came back to Chievo and was subsequently kicked Chievo’s Serie A campaign, as Chievo won promotion as champions. On August 7, 2008, he received a loan to the newly-promoted Serie B outfit, Salernitana At Salerno the club played in 34 league games.

He was born at Caltanissetta, Sicily, Marchese began his career in the youth team that was part of Serie A side Torino. After Torino were knocked out to the bottom of the table in 2003. Marchese was occasionally called up by the the first team and was part of seven games from April 2004. He was part of the Primavera Under-20 squad in the 2003-04 season. In 2004 He was loaned by Serie B side Treviso along with Riccardo Pagliuchi to improve his experience. while at Treviso the pair played 31 games in a single season. Then in 2005 he was back in Turin. However, the financial problems of Torino led to the club bankrupt, and its move up to Serie A was canceled. The players were able to go home for free, and an entirely new team was created with Serie B as successor. Marchese along with his teammate Andrea Mantovani joined Chiveo in August 2005.

Following his return on loan with Torino, Marchese was instantly transferred for Serie A rivals Chievo, in 2005. After a brief stint in Chievo’s Chievo Verona’s first team the player was released on loan to the Serie B team, Catania for the remainder of 6 months in the season 2005-2006. While at Catania He was part of 14 games that helped the Sicilian giants gain promotion to the Serie A for the first time in two decades. After his return back to Verona at the end of June 2006 Marchese continued to play for Verona for his 2006-2007 Serie A season. After finishing fifth in the league one year before, the Verona-based team was sent into Serie B for the 2007-2008 season. The club stayed with him for the beginning in the Serie B campaign, however it was decided to loan him to the Serie B side Bari for the rest of 2007/08 Serie B season. ChievoVerona did gain promotion to Italian top league that season. On July 1, the 1st of July, Marchese came back to Verona to join the team for his Serie A and UEFA Cup campaign, but only made nine league appearances. He was a part of the team that was that was relegated to Serie B after the club fell from 4th place in the 2005-06 season (post trails) up to 17th place in the 2006-07 season. The club remained with him for the beginning of the Serie B campaign, made 11 league appearances. On February 1, 2008 the club loaned him out to Bari, a team from Serie B side Bari for the remainder to the campaign.

On 31 August 2009, the final day of the 2009 summer transfer window, Marchese was sent to Catania, in exchange for right back, Gennaro Sardo. Sardo’s transfer was somewhat of a surprise, due to the fact that he had been consistently included in Catania’s starting XI for the past few seasons. Marchese made just 5 appearances in the entire 2009–10 Serie A season.
