Gilbert Agius is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on February 21, 1974 in Valletta, Malta. Gilbert Agius (born 21 February 1974) is an ex-professional Maltese footballer who is currently the assistant manager of Valletta FC.
In the initial stages of the 2012-13 season, Agius was appointed the Assistant Manager of Valletta along with the new manager Mark Miller. Agius later quit the position and returned in order to join Gozitan team Xewkija Tigers helping them to take home the Gozo League.
In the beginning of the 2007-08 season, Agius was at trials with Enkoping, however later , he decided to remain with Valletta. In the final stretch of 2007, Agius was forced to withdraw due to an injury to his thigh that lasted for a few months. He returned as the team was beginning to show its potential and took Valletta to its first title since 2000-01. He received only one player of the month award throughout this period (September 2007,) and was named the best local player in the Maltese Football Awards at the conclusion of the 2007-08 campaign.
