After finishing his education at Diamond Bar High School, Brown went on to attend California State University, Fullerton in Fullerton, where he played in college for his team, the Cal State Fullerton Titans baseball team. Brown was a close consensus All-American during his final season. Between 2008 and 2009 Brown played collegiate baseball in the Orleans Firebirds of the Cape Cod Baseball League.
