He also plays regularly in the band Trygve Seim (with whom he released the album “Yeraz” in 2008 on ECM at the end of 2008) The Norwegian Folk group Rusk together with the singer Unni Lovlid, and guitarist Vegar Vardal. He has also played in a duo arrangement with fiddler Gjermund Larsen and in a trio together with Ragnhild Furebotten as well as Emilia Amper.
The album he released as his debut Looking on Darkness (2002) was recognized with Spellemannprisen (a Norwegian Grammy) for the top contemporary album. He also won the French Prix Gus Viseur in 2004 for the same album. The next album,”Passing” images (2007) included his personal interpretations of Norwegian folk songs. He was with Arve Henriksen and Garth Knox and Maja Ratkje on this album.

Haltli began playing the accordion when he was seven. Over the next few years, he took home several national competitions, scholarships and was awarded the first prize on Norwegian television’s Talentiaden [no] in 1991. He took lessons in the accordion at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo in 1994, and later at the Royal Danish Conservatory of Music in Copenhagen which was where he first made an appearance with a concert in the year 2000.
He was given the Young Soloist of the Year award in the year 2001, from the Norwegian Concert Institute at the Bergen International Festival 2000 in 2000. He also won the 2nd prize at the famous International Gaudeamus Interpreters Competition in the Netherlands.
Frode currently (2015) lives in Svartskog, close to Oslo but frequently tours abroad, in Europe, Russia, America and Asia. He has performed as a soloist with major orchestras around the world and is actively working with chamber music—the trio POING taking up much of his time currently. The trio, with Rolf-Erik Nystrøm on the saxophone and Håkon Thelin on the double bass, mainly performs contemporary music.
