Baum was a first-team coach for SV LVB Leipzig and also played as a coach for Kickers 1994 Markkleeberg from 1995. In the present, he coaches the first men’s team of the Leipzig Transport Authority team in the Leipzig District League.

After having left Lokomotive Leipzig in 1989, Baum went on to work in Chemie Bohlen, Sachsen Leipzig and VfB Zwenkau.
