Francisco Javier Cruz Jimenez (born on May 24, 1966, at Cedral, San Luis Potosi) is a Mexican footballer that played with C.F. Monterrey as well as Tigres UANL, becoming one of the few players successful with both professional teams in Monterrey. He’s known as El Abuelo, which means “The Grandfather”.

“El Abuelo” Cruz also played in a number of games for his Mexican National Squad, including the 1986 FIFA World Cup quarterfinal against West Germany in the Estadio Universitario of Monterrey. In the final minutes Cruz scored a goal that was disallowed by the referee because of an offside ruling which involved another player. The match ended on penalty kicks, with Mexico being eliminated.
