Fathur Rahman al-Ghozi is one of the most popular and richest Militant who was born on February 17, 1971 in Madiun, East Java, Indonesia. born in the year 1971 East Java, Indonesia, Al-Ghozi was a member of JI. He had connections to Abu Bakar Bashir, the claimed spiritual leader of Jemaah Islamiyah and had been a student in Bashir’s school of religion located in Solo, Central Java, Indonesia for six years during the late 1980s. He was trained as a soldier at an al-Qaeda training camp, including instruction in bomb-making by Abu Khabab, along the frontier between Afghanistan as well as Pakistani. Then, he was a JI trainer, delivering classes on making bombs throughout Malaysia in Malaysia and Philippines. It was also reported that he was be a part of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) special operations group, operating under a different name Randy Ali.

On October 12, 2003, the media reported the fact that al-Ghozi was killed in the police shootout in Mindanao. As per reports authorities received information that al-Ghozi was in the vicinity of Pigcauayan. A checkpoint for military was set in place, but the jeep that was carrying al-Ghozi drove through the roadblock, and a gunfight was fought. The soldiers shot al-Ghozi as trying to blow up an explosive hand grenade. He was killed on the journey to a nearby hospital.

Al-Ghozi was detained within the Philippines on January 15th, 2002, just three hours prior to when his departure on the plane that would take him departing from Manila to Bangkok for a planned rendezvous with Riduan Isamuddin as well as the other al-Qaeda and JI agents. He was found guilty of possession of explosives that were illegal in April 2002 being sentenced for 17 years of jail. While in prison He provided details that led to a stash of more than a tonne of explosives as well as 300 detonators, along with other bomb-making supplies found in Southern Philippines. The items were found in the house that was rented by al-Ghozi at General Santos City in Mindanao. Al-Ghozi admitted to having supplied the explosives that were used for Rizal Day bombings. Fathur Rahman al-Ghozi (17 February 1971 in Indonesia until 12 October 2003 in Philippines) was one of the major agent and bomb maker in the Islamic militant Jemaah Islamiya group (JI). Al-Ghozi has been accused of planning and carrying out a series of terror acts in Philippines, Indonesia, and Singapore.

Al-Ghozi was the one who planned and funded Al-Ghozi planned and financed Rizal Day bombings, a series of attacks executed in the name of Jemaah Islamiya on 30 December 2000 that claimed the lives of 22 individuals. In October 2001, at the guidance by JI leader Hambali Al-Ghozi travelled to Singapore with a fake Filipino passport, to initiate a sleeper cell and instruct JI participants to perform a reconnaissance and to plan a series of bombings targeting the United States and Western interests. Yazid Sufaat (q.v.) was the one who had acquired four tons of ammonium nitrate to make the bombs. One of the targets was U.S. and Israeli Embassies, British and Australian High Commissions and commercial buildings that house US companies. The plan was to launch attacks in the months of December 2001/January 2002, or April/May 2002, but the plan was discovered by police in December of 2001.

On 14 July 2003, al-Ghozi managed to escape from a high security facility inside Camp Crame, together with two other terrorist suspects belonging to the Abu Sayyaf group. The breakout led to a nationwide hunt for the fugitives in the Philippines. The government posted a reward of 10 million pesos for information on his whereabouts.
