Fabricio Oberto is one of the most popular and richest Basketball Player who was born on March 21, 1975 in Las Varillas, Argentina. Fabricio Raul Jose Oberto (American Spanish: [fa’brisjo o’bertoborn on March 21 1975) is an Argentina-Italian former professional basketball player. At 6 feet 10 inches (2.08 m) Oberto played as power forward and center. As a player with his LNB club Atenas located in his home country of Argentina, Oberto began playing professionally in 1993. He later played abroad with teams from Spain as well as Greece. As of 2005, Oberto was signed by the San Antonio Spurs, a team from the American National Basketball Association (NBA) and was awarded an NBA champion in San Antonio Spurs during 2007. He was also a player on his senior Argentina nation’s basketball team.

In 2005, after having revoked the contract he had signed in 2005 with Pamesa, Oberto signed a three-year, US$7.5 million contract with the San Antonio Spurs of the NBA which he later joined with the team with fellow Argentine Manu Ginobili. He wore the number 7 jersey that was the same number on his kit that he had in that of the Argentina nation’s basketball squad. Oberto was the most senior rookie in Spurs history, at 31 years old.

On August 11, 2009, he was officially signed by the Wizards. Since jersey number 7 was already taken by Andray Blatche, he chose to wear number 21 because of his birth date (March 21) and in honor of one of his idols, former teammate Tim Duncan. After a single season in which he got limited playing time as the team struggled through the Gilbert Arenas gun incident and ultimately began to rebuild, he became a free agent once more in the summer of 2010.

On June 23, 2009, Oberto was traded to the Detroit Pistons as a part of a three-team trade among Pistons, Spurs and the Milwaukee Bucks, which included Richard Jefferson. Then he was immediately waived by the Pistons.

Oberto is a native of Las Varillas, Cordoba, Argentina. Oberto along with his partner, Lorena, have a daughter, Julia, who was born in the summer of 2005. Oberto also plays guitar. His favorite artists are Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, U2 and Metallica.

Oberto began playing for his Argentina national team just prior to his 20th birthday 1995. Success in tournaments followed and included winning Argentina an Olympic gold medal in the 2004 Summer Olympics.

On June 4, 2009, Oberto underwent a successful ablation procedure to correct the electrical system of the heart that was sending Oberto into atrial fibrillation. The procedure was performed at the Texas Cardiac Arrhythmia Institute in Austin by Dr. Andrea Natale.
