I know how kind and decent the British people are.”
Ibrahim was reported to have been captured in Tarhuna 40 miles south-east of Tripoli on 20 October 2012. The government supported the reports for the first time. The false reports were corrected by Nasser Al Manaa, a government spokesperson. He also claimed that Khamis Gaddafi was dead.

Moussa Ibrahim Gadafi (Arabic mws brhym; also known as Mussa or Musa) is a Libyan politician who became international attention as Muammar Gaddafi’s Information Minister and official spokesperson. He served in this capacity until the fall of the government in the Libyan Civil War. During the conflict, Ibrahim held numerous press conferences, decrying rebel forces and NATO-led military interventions, often in passionate and defiant tones. His whereabouts and status remained unknown after the Battle of Tripoli, in which the Gaddafi regime was overthrown. However, there were numerous claims and subsequent refutations of his captivity. In late 2014, it was revealed that he had been in Egypt prior to his deportation and that he fled to Serbia. Moussa Ibrahim, Director of Private Security Company, spoke at an event in London’s Committee Rooms Houses of Parliament on 12 January 2015.
Misrata-based Freedom TV reported on 29 September 2011 incorrectly that Ibrahim was captured near Sirte, by NTC fighters. A pro-Gaddafi TV station denied the report and did not provide any independent confirmation. Adel Ibrahim, a Misrata military council spokesman, said to AFP that he could not confirm Ibrahim’s arrest. Two days later, an NTC commander confirmed that they had not arrested him. Reuters reported on 20 October 2011 that Ibrahim was captured near Sirte according to a commander of Libyan transitional forces. However, this report was proven again to be false. He was reported to have been captured along with Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi near Bani Walid on 22 October 2011. This claim was discredited as Saif wasn’t captured until 19/11 near Ubari. It was reported that Ibrahim, a Libyan national, had been captured in Asbi’a on 20 January 2012. Officials in Tripoli denied these claims the next day.
Ibrahim’s elder brother Mohamed Ibrahim Mansour, a “senior finance official” under Gaddafi, was reportedly arrested in Cairo on 19 March 2013, facing charges of corruption. Several new audio clips purportedly of Ibrahim have been published online, but remain unverified.
