He was first included in the New Zealand national rugby league squad in 2007 when he was ranked 18th in the ANZAC day test. In 2008, he was selected as a member of the training squads of both New Zealand as well as the Samoan World Cup teams. Although he was initially not selected in the 24-man Kiwis team, he was called in as a replacement for Jeff Lima who was injured. Jeff Lima and made his debut in the test against England.

On 25 July 2012, Tuimavave signed a 2-year contract with English Super League club, Hull Kingston Rovers starting in 2013. He was released from his contract a year early on compassionate grounds.

The year 2006 was the time he was picked to play for New Zealand A, who played and won a game with an Australian Invitational side.

The year 2002 was the time that Tuimavave received a place to Tuimavave’s Junior Kiwis squad that played in two games against visiting Australian teams.

The family was born in Auckland, New Zealand, Tuimavave played in his youth football with his club, the Pt Chev Pirates, Richmond Rovers and the Bartercard Cup team, Marist Richmond Brothers as well as being trained in Mount Roskill Grammar School and St Paul’s College, which is famous for its teams in the rugby league. The year 2002 saw him walked in uncle Tony’s footsteps and joined the National Rugby League team, the New Zealand Warriors. In the 25th round of 2002’s NRL season, he made his NRL debut playing against Northern Eagles. In the beginning of 2003, the player was sacked and spent the following twelve months playing in the Bartercard Cup. The year 2007 was the first time he was a player in the Auckland Lions in the NSWRL Premier League. Then, he was able to secure his place as a top player in the squad of 25 and was often called up to the bench in the 2008 season. Then in 2009 Tuimavave was injured in a major way and was unable to play in a first-grade match until Round 21. The contract he signed was not renewed for the 2010 season.

In September 2009, Tuimavave signed a 2-year contract with the Newcastle Knights starting in 2010. He tore his Achilles tendon in Round 10 of the 2010 NRL season which ruled him out for the rest of year. Tuimavave made his return in Round 1 of the 2011 NRL season and went on to play 20 games that season. He then extended his stay into 2012.
