Eunice Barber (born on 17 November 1974 Freetown, Sierra Leone) is an Sierra Leonean athlete competing in long jump and heptathlon. Barber initially participated with Sierra Leone and then for France from 1999 until. She won the heptathlon in the World Athletics Championships in 1999 and her long leap in 2003, and placed second in the heptathlon in 2003 and 2005.

In 1999’s World Championships heptathlon in Seville she beat Denise Lewis by just 137 points, with a personal best number of 6861. Lewis safe in second place with a further 224 points to be third Ghada Shouaa.

At the 2003 World Championships in Paris, Carolina Klüft captured her first world title, in front of Barber’s adopted home crowd. Klüft finished with 7001 points, ahead of Barber, with 6755 points. However, Barber bounced back to win the long jump, with her last-round attempt.

At the 2005 World Championships in Athletics in Helsinki, Klüft and Barber battle again for the Gold Medal. Once again Klüft wins (with 6,887 points) and Barber takes the second place (with 6,824 points). Barber failed to defend her long jump crown, but took a bronze in the event.

Due to an injury, Eunice Barber was unable to participate in the 1998 Olympics. Then, in February of 1999 she was able to become an French citizen (she was a student and lived since 1992 in France for the past two years).

Barber took part during her participation in 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona in the 100m and heptathlon hurdles. She also took part in the heptathlon competition at the 1993 World Championships in Stuttgart, however, she was not able to finish.
