Esther Stroy (born August 12 1953) was a former American track and field athlete who participated in sprinting events. She is most well-known for participating in the 1968 Olympics in the 400-meter sprint as a teenager, making her the youngest athlete at the time.
In 1969 she was ranked as third on the list in the USA and ninth overall in the 400m/440 yard distance according to the expert opinions in Track and Field News.
The high point of her career was winning gold at the 1971 Pan American Games in the 4 x 400 meter relay and bronze in the 200 meters. She also won the 220 yards dash at the 1971 and 1972 AAU Indoor Championships.
In the 400 m event itself, she reached the semi-final but injured herself whilst leading the race and finally finished fifth so therefore not qualifying for the final. Her Olympic misfortune was repeated in 1972. As Stroy-Harper recalls “Right before the 1972 Olympics, I injured that same hamstring, so I didn’t make the team. I went to Munich, but as a spectator.”
Esther Stroy was only 15 years old and 64 days old when she took part in her first Olympics.

His father got watch her race through Mexico City in the 1968 Olympics however, her mother was not able to recover from injuries herself during preparations for travel. At the age of high school, Stroy attended classes at local schools during all six weeks during Olympics training camp in Los Alamos, New Mexico to keep her academic capabilities.
The 1998 United States Olympic Trials, Stroy was third in the 400m event and was entered , but did not participate in the 200 meters. The year 1972 was the same. She placed 3rd in the heat of 200 m event and was entered but didn’t participate in the 400 meters.
In 1971, she was a member of a 4 x 1-mile women’s relay team that set a new world record at a USA versus Pan-Africa meet.
