The artist presented 40 intaglio original images from Martin Luther to Wartburg College to commemorate his 500th birthday anniversary, which was the date of the Protestant Reformation. Each of the prints from Junker Jorg 1521 was created in the studio of Lasansky over the course of six months. Intaglio printing involves engraving and etching on an aluminum sheet.

Early success came to Diego Lasansky in his series Portrait at Eighteen. This was a series of 50 intaglio self-portraits, all of which were distinguishable from the others. In 2015 the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art published a monograph on Lasansky.
