Daniel Balavoine is one of the most popular and richest French singer- songwriter who was born on February 5, 1952 in Alençon, Normandy, France. Balavoine was born on the 5th of February 1952 at Alencon, France. He was the youngest of the family of six. He was the youngest of two sisters and three brothers. The father of his children, Emile is an engineer in the city who worked for the Reconstruction Ministry. His mother was a wholesaler of antiques. In 1959, the family moved to Algeria as Daniel was moved to the south-central city of Pau and was a student at a boarding school which he didn’t like. When he was 11 years old and listened to “She Loves You” by The Beatles that sparked his interest for music. When he was in 1968, at high school the student was one of the numerous teens who supported the national strikes.
In 1973, as working as a record retailer, The Vogue studios, which was the producer of Presence came to the singer and offered to help his solo career. His debut Vogue album “Viens vite” was released however, it was not a huge success in sales. Balavoine was then a background singer with his brother Guy. In the following years, they appeared in a show called The Revolution Francaise.
While attending a show, Léo Missir, vice president of Barclay Records, was impressed by Balavoine’s aura and signed him immediately to a 3-year deal which ended up lasting far longer. His first record, “De vous à elle en passant par moi”, was released in 1975, but again resulted in disappointing sales.
In 1977, Balavoine released a second record, “Les aventures de Simon et Gunther” but again it sold poorly and Eddie Barclay began getting impatient.
After deciding to earn money from music, he started to work as a ballroom dancer in Pau performing covers of Bob Dylan songs. He left Pau in 1971 and relocated towards Paris but was dissatisfied and went back to Pau. Then, he attended the call in Paris to be a part of the hard rock group Presence who’s singer had just quit. Another singer in the future, Laurent Voulzy, was his main rival for that post. In the end, Balavoine was selected and took to the studio. They soon released an album that did not have a great reception. However, they did tour throughout France. After 1972, the group signed a deal in partnership with Warner Music Group but Balavoine was fired from the group.

Daniel Balavoine (5 February 1952 14 January, 1952 – 14 January, 1987) was a French music producer and singer. He became extremely popular throughout the francophone world and was a source of inspiration for many singers in the 1980s, like Jean-Jacques Goldman Michel Berger, his closest friend as well as his favorite, the Japanese rock group Crystal King; he was also a member of the first casting of the rock show Starmania in 1978, composed by Berger. He also took part in French politics and is famous for his 1980 telecast of a verbal battle with the then president Francois Mitterrand.
Since the year 1968, Balavoine started to be fascinated by French politics. In the midst of massive protests and turmoil that took place in the spring of 1968 He first thought of entering politics. He fought Francois Mitterrand, who was at the at the time, the national secretary to the French Socialist Party as well as a French Presidential candidate on the France 2 newscast at night which left the room stunned. In a short, spontaneous speech of seven minutes in 1980, an angry Balavoine stated his frustrations about the current political climate of the young people in France and how the young people were completely ignored by the political establishment and only focused on their own interests.
In 1974, Patrick Juvet, one of the biggest performers in France at the time, offered him the opportunity to be the opening act on his next tour. Balavoine wrote a song for him, “Couleurs d’Automne”, which appeared on Juvet’s following album.
