Daniel Scott LaCouture (born April 18th 1977) is an American former professional left winger of ice hockey playing in the National Hockey League (NHL). LaCouture graduated from Natick High School in Natick, Massachusetts.

In the 2004-2005 NHL lockout during the lockout, it was the Providence Bruins signed LaCouture to an agreement. He was a player in the NHL’s Boston Bruins and Switzerland’s HC Davos during 2005-2006. Unrestricted free agents in the offseason of 2006 LaCouture was signed by the New Jersey Devils, playing in six games for the NHL club , and thirty-nine games with the Lowell Devils of the AHL. He joined the Anaheim Ducks in 2007, but was then suspended by the team when his failure to report to the Anaheim’s AHL team that is in Portland, Maine. LaCouture went back to Swiss League and played 15 games for HC Lugano in the 2007-08 season. After a practice session that impressed the Hurricanes team, he was signed an one-year, two-way deal with the Carolina Hurricanes of the NHL. He was then called up for the Albany River Rats, but was released on the 27th of December of 2008, and signed an agreement in the KHL with Barys Astana from the KHL.

On April 10, 2014, LaCouture was revealed as one of nine former NHL players to file a major class action lawsuit against the NHL, alleging that the league has generated billions of dollars while subjecting its players to ‘the imminent risk of head trauma’ leading to ‘devastating and long-term negative health consequences.’

The Pittsburgh Penguins dealt for LaCouture on March 13, 2001, by transferring Sven Butenschon to the Oilers. Lacouture was the most prolific player of his season of the year, scoring six goals, along with eleven assists, and appearing in all 82 games during 2001-2002. In his time with Pittsburgh from 2003 on, February 10 , 2003 Lacouture, along with Alexei Kovalev, Janne Laukkanen along with Mike Wilson were sent to the New York Rangers in exchange for Joel Bouchard, Richard Lintner Mikael Samuelsson Rico Fata, and cash.
